Case Study - Pen-y-Fan, Oakdale
This project was for a client who wanted a full 5.1 home cinema setup with a projector and electric screen within his home which was partially renovated. Access was limited for the cable runs required in this project and we had the extra task of the client wanting the main speakers in the ceiling.
Our first task was to gain access to the ceiling which we did by removing floorboards in the bedroom and bathroom above it. Thankfully this allowed us enough access to run the cables 
for the five speakers and also the video cables to the projector. The subwoofer in this instance was floorstanding and was positioned near to the AV receiver/ amplifier.
The projector used was the Benq W500 LCD projector which has a native resolution of 720p and is HD ready. This was connected to the AV receiver via component and high definition cable. The speakers had to be unobtrusive and mounted within the ceiling which is why the Sonance Ellipse and SRS-1 surrounds were specified. These gave out a great sound within the room and also fitted in perfectly with the decor.
The overall sound and listening pleasure was enhanced within the room due to the auto set-up and Room Equalisation, featuring MultEQ from Audyssey which is present within the Denon AV Receiver. This automatically calculates the distances from the speakers to the listening positions within the room and then equalises the audio output from these speakers to give the listener the best sound.
The Denon DVD player is capable of upscaling normal DVD’s to full HD 1080p which gave an enhanced image from the projector. The client was extremely happy with the solution that we provided for him.
